President Lies Before Congress

No one is surprised that a president who was elected on lies continued to tell more lies as he stood before a joint session of Congress last night, giving a speech that didn’t need to be given to a group that didn’t need or want to hear it with the intention of doing nothing different. There was no big surprise, no shocking change in direction, no new program being flouted. All the American people got was a large room full of hot air.

President Shitforbrains wasn’t required to give a State of the Union speech because he’s in the first year of what counts as a new administration. He can’t keep his mouth closed, though. He enjoys spreading his lies, enhancing rumors, and goading Democrats. All of his favorite hits were on the playlist: immigration and border control, tariffs, government waste, freedom of speech (ha!), DOGE, and removing DEI from all forms of government. In a nutshell, the president egotistically thumbed his nose at Democrats and said, “We’re going to keep doing what we’re doing.”

The lies, too, were along familiar strains. The New York Times compiled a list of falsehoods and misleading statements in real time. Here are some of the most flagrant fouls.

“Now, for the first time in modern history, more Americans believe that our country is headed in the right direction than the wrong direction. In fact, it’s an astonishing record: 27-point swing, the most ever.”

No, not really. Only the Rasmussen poll reflected any significant swing at all. In fact, polls taken over the weekend show that the president’s popularity is slipping big time, especially with those who voted for him. He has no mandate. He never did. This is a deliberate misrepresentation of how America is feeling at the moment.

[Felonious Punk] claimed that he’s stopped “government censorship” and “brought back free speech in America.”

That one’s absolutely laughable. Not only has he had words and phrases stripped from government documents, removed government websites, and made direct threats toward media personalities he doesn’t like, but just yesterday the president threatened to withdraw funds from any colleges that allow what he considers to be ‘illegal’ protests. This president only likes free speech when he’s the one speaking, and he’s almost always speaking.

“As you know, we inherited, from the last administration, an economic catastrophe and an inflation nightmare.”

Says the president whose tariffs have completely wiped out all gains in the stock market since the election. By all accounts, the economy was robust and growing when Punk took over. Now, the US market is falling, food prices are climbing, and foreign markets are celebrating our downturn. This is not winning. This is not acting in the best interest of the American people. This is dismantling an economy.

The Biden administration “closed more than 100 power plants.”

This one is so false we’re amazed that the president’s pants didn’t catch fire. The number of power plants increased significantly, especially in the area of renewable resources, which went to 7,684 from 5,918. By contrasts, President Punk has signed executive orders eliminating funding for renewable resource plants, as well as charging stations for electric vehicles. The only power Punk is interested in is his own.

“The previous administration cut the number of new oil and gas leases by 95 percent.”

Lisa Friedman explains. “The Biden administration did significantly cut the number of new oil and gas leases as part of an effort to transition the United States away from fossil fuels, the burning of which drives climate change. It approved 315,997 acres of federal lands for leasing, compared with the six million acres offered up by President Trump in his first term — indeed a 95 percent reduction.

“The Biden administration’s rationale was that drillers should first use the millions of acres they had already leased before seeking more land. At the same time, the Biden administration approved many permits for companies to drill on land and in waters they had already leased, most prominently an $8 billion project, known as Willow, in the North Slope of Alaska. The decrease in new leases did not hinder production. On the contrary, oil and gas companies saw some of their most profitable years during the Biden administration, and oil and gas production surged to record highs.”

“We will take in trillions and trillions of dollars and create jobs like we have never seen before.”

The math doesn’t add up on this one. US imports were worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $3.3 trillion last year. In order to make up the same amount, tariffs would have to be significantly higher than they already are and would depend on American buyers to be willing to pay notably higher prices. There is no evidence that Americans are in the mood to pay for much of anything.

“1.3 million people from ages 150 to 159, and over 130,000 people, according to the Social Security databases, are age over 160 years old.”

This statement repeats a lie that has been continually disproven. There’s no one living to 160 years. No one dead is receiving a Social Security check. The DOGE idiots are completely misreading both COBOL computer code and the spreadsheets themselves. Besides, Social Security itself is less than a hundred years old, so simple logic says there can’t be any super-geriatrics on the payroll.

“We found hundreds of billions of dollars of fraud.”

No, you didn’t. DOGE made up numbers that have been repeatedly proven to be false or misleading. Since the purge is not being conducted by forensic accountants, any numbers coming from the agency must be considered misleading and unreliable at best. Independent agencies have found glaring errors in the reports. Any savings to be claimed is minimal.

“They have allowed fentanyl to come into our country at levels never seen before, killing hundreds of thousands of our citizens and many very young, beautiful people, destroying families.”

Nope, quite the opposite. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that fentanyl overdoses were down last year. While the use of fentanyl is constantly changing in terms of geography, there is no evidence that more of the drug is coming into the country from any direction.

“Our goal is to get toxins out of our environment, poisons out of our food supply, and keep our children healthy and strong.”

Says the president whose EPA reversed long-standing policy yesterday to allow the dumping of raw sewage into fresh water. A toxic president doesn’t give a shit about getting poisons out of anything. This is further evidence of how Punk & Co. are destroying America.

Equally as disappointing as the president’s speech, however, was the Democrats’ lack of a forceful response. Only three members completely avoided the speech altogether. Al Green managed to get himself thrown out, but he got zero support from his fellow Democrats. A handful of others got up and walked out during the speech. Most sat there in stoned silence, holding their little placards, and generally looking as though they’d all eaten spoiled shellfish for dinner. Only Green offered any real resistance.

As presidential speeches go, this one was largely inconsequential. No new programs were introduced. Nothing was said that is likely to be memorable. Neither was anything in the speech inspiring. This one was a real yawner.

Truly intelligent people were already in bed.
